05/21/2018 – Committee Meeting

Attendees: John C, Tina, Bruce, Barb, Tom R, Katie R, Tom K

1.Church/Charter Org

     a. Cade's rank project – scout display case at church

          i. June 4th share ideas, plans, etc. to take to church session

          ii. Bruce has a case that could be used.

          iii. Pastor Melody will contact Ray Jeons family about contribution

     b. Communication on family scouting

     c. Discussion about girls and organizational structure

           i. Would need to have at least 5 girls to get a troop started

           ii. Pastor Melody will take to the church session – supportive

           iii. Committee is generally supportive

2.Open Committee Positions - Immediate Need for volunteers

     a. Secretary - take notes at meetings

     b. Chaplain - guide the troop's chaplain's aide

     c. Campout Coordinator - help make reservations

     d. TugFest Coordinator - develop shift schedule and work with Tugfest

3.Fundraising - Katie

     a. Camp Card Sales – complete

          i. Funds raised – over 600 cards sold

          ii. Proceeds not yet applied to Scout Accounts

     b. Popcorn sales

          i. Online starts Aug 1st

4.Finance update - Tina

     a. Army surplus correction

     b. Debit card update

5.Awards and Advancement – Michelle

     a. Scoutbook Lite

          i. Need to setup an account to upload - Katie

          ii. Response from TT, “We will work with Scoutbook Lite so that our users can continue to utilize TroopTrack. The user experience probably won’t change drastically, since many of the changes will be behind the scenes.”

      b. Summer Court of Honor will be August 27th 

6.Scoutmaster updates – Tom R

      a. Eagle projects and topics

          i. Dalton – project partially completed

          ii. Parker, Matt & Scott W – projects in progress

          iii. Caleb R – proposal 

          iv. Patrick T – proposal (Princeton Park)

     b. Purchase paracord (multi-color) - Approved

     c. Campouts/Activities

          i. STEALTH campout – 9 boys attended

     d. Summer Camps – need adult coverage for LT

          i. Out of Council – Camp Tomahawk - June 23 – 30 

               1.Birchwood, WI - east of Minneapolis (roughly 6 hours)

               2.Tom & Michelle will be going for the week/Barb – half/Jon R - half

         ii. In Council – Camp Loud Thunder – July 8 – 14

               1.Registered Week 5 – staying

               2.Discount Week 4

7.Troop Trailer Inspection

     a. Brian will look over the wheels and road readiness

     b. Tina will send a quote if anything major

8.Troop Banner

     a. Hang on the side of trailer or at events like senior dinner

     b. Designs – troop voted on traditional red/white

     c. Getting quotes.

9.Flags – Nathan

      a. 230 flags in inventory + 130 Vets flags

      c. Sleeve material received for new sleeves

      d. Storage proposal for future flags – APPROVED

          i. Cody storage 10 X 20 - $770

          ii. Sharing space with cub packs (46 & 88)

          iii. Approved getting the larger unit if it comes available ahead of the 10x20.

      e.TT Calendar – flag shifts

          i. Shift doc uploaded to TT

          ii. Nathan will create calendar notices

      f. POW flag would need to be on its own pole – The homeowner will store and put out on the holidays.

     g. Recommend putting the second “free” flag at the church (corner)

     h. Glendale Cemetery and Bridgeview Elem. events on Memorial Day
